Envisioned as a colorful retreat, Dakang stands out as a testament to community engagement and urban revitalization. This theme park, inspired by the local glasses-making industry, is not just a place for recreation but also a canvas that reflects the spirit of Shenzhen's Longgang district. Be Genius has masterfully transformed a once-damaged building wall into a harmonious backdrop for the park, integrating it seamlessly with the lively environment. The result is an urban detail experience that invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in a world where design and playfulness intersect.
The uniqueness of Dakang lies in its interactive features, such as LED screens and curved mirrors, which invite participation and exploration. The park's benches, shaped like spectacles, are not just functional; they are conversation pieces that add to the park's narrative. This innovative approach to public space design by Be Genius has turned Dakang into a popular destination for relaxation and photography, enhancing the quality of life for the surrounding community.
Utilizing materials like stainless steel and incorporating technology such as LED electronic screens, the park's realization is a blend of durability and digital engagement. The technical specifications, including its impressive size of 24000 mm x 400 mm x 3500 mm, ensure that Dakang is a landmark that can accommodate numerous visitors while providing an intimate experience for each.
The design team, led by Shangfei Lang and supported by engineers and designers like Kexin Feng and Xiaopan Wang, has brought to life a concept that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally enriching. The park's operation is intuitive, with interactive elements designed to be user-friendly and accessible, ensuring that the glasses theme is experienced in a way that resonates with visitors of all ages.
From its inception in January 2023 to its completion in April 2023, Dakang has been a project of passion and precision. The underlying research focused on embodying the "glasses everywhere, but nowhere in particular" philosophy, creating a space that is both specific in its inspiration and universal in its appeal. The design challenges faced by Be Genius were met with creativity and innovation, resulting in a park that stands as a symbol of Shenzhen's dedication to cultural expression and community development.
The park's artistic installations, free of sharp edges and full of interactive opportunities, are a testament to Be Genius's commitment to safety and engagement. Dakang's recognition as a Bronze winner in the A' Advertising, Marketing and Communication Design Award in 2024 underscores its success as a space that not only serves its community but also inspires the world with its design excellence and innovative spirit.
